Resurrection Sunday is something we celebrate every year, yet it can easily feel like just another Sunday that passes by. However, if we truly believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who rose from the grave and washed away our sins, then His resurrection should shape the way we live each day. The apostle Paul pointed to the resurrection as the foundation of God’s promises, the proof of His power, and the source of our purpose.
PROMISES
Our God is not only a promise maker — He is a faithful promise keeper. The gospel comes from Him and was promised from the very beginning (Romans 1:1-2). At its heart is the resurrection of Jesus Christ. He died for our sins and rose again so that we could have new life and lasting hope in Him. Every fulfilled promise reveals the perfection of God’s plan. God’s love remains constant even when our feelings change, and the greatest expression of His lovingkindness is the redemption found through Jesus Christ.
PROOF
The resurrection is not only a promise fulfilled but also a truth supported by eyewitnesses and transformed lives. Hundreds saw the risen Christ (1 Corinthians 15:6-8), and Paul’s life is a powerful example of this reality. Once a persecutor, Paul encountered Jesus and responded with surrender, asking, “Who are You, Lord?” and “What do You want me to do?” (Acts 22:6-10). God also used Ananias, who chose obedience despite fear, to help change Paul’s life. Through them, we see that God transforms people and uses them to reach others.
PURPOSE
If you received news that could change the world, would you keep it to yourself? The resurrection assures us of forgiveness, secures our eternal life, and gives us a renewed purpose. Like Paul, we who have received grace through faith in Jesus are called to obey and share the gospel (Romans 1:4-5). A life changed by Christ cannot remain silent. The power of the resurrection moves us to live out our faith and share the hope found only in Him.
