Have you ever felt encouraged on a Sunday, only to hesitate when it comes to sharing the gospel during the week? It is easy to grow comfortable within the walls of the church, yet beyond those walls is a world still waiting to hear about Jesus. God reminds us that just as the Holy Spirit prepares our hearts to speak, He is also preparing the hearts of others to receive His love. So how do these two meet? God brings them together by sharpening us in two ways.
DARE TO BELIEVE THE HOLY SPIRIT IS WITH YOU
Have you ever found yourself waiting for a clear sign from God before choosing to obey? There are days when we feel close to Him, and days when He seems distant. Yet it is often in these moments of uncertainty that we are called to trust Him more deeply. Jesus understands our struggles, and through the Holy Spirit, He assures us that we are never alone. As written in John 14:16–17, He gives us an Advocate who will be with us forever. This means that God’s presence is not based on how we feel, but on His promise to be with us. Because of this, we can move forward in faith, trusting that He is already at work in every situation, even when we cannot see it.
STEP OUT OF THE BOAT
In Matthew 14:22–33, Peter steps out of the boat and walks toward Jesus on the water. As a fisherman, he was familiar with the dangers of the sea, yet he chose to trust Jesus over what he knew. That first step was not built on certainty, but on faith. In the same way, we will face moments that challenge our understanding and stretch our comfort. We may be tempted to stay where it feels safe, but Jesus calls us to step out and follow Him. When we choose faith over comfort, we begin to see our circumstances differently. What once felt like obstacles can become opportunities for God to work through us. As we step out in obedience, we become witnesses of Christ wherever He leads us.
On the Day of Pentecost the Holy Spirit prepared the believers to share and the world around them to receive. Which ones of my friends, relatives, colleagues and neighbors might be prepared to receive God’s love right now?
