When we encounter something so amazing, life-changing, and good, can we really keep it to ourselves? Throughout Scripture, those who genuinely encountered God could never remain the same. His greatness transformed their perspective, reordered their priorities, and compelled them to live differently. The same is true for us today. A heart that stands in awe of God will proclaim His glory, surrender to His will, and eagerly await His return.
ANNOUNCE HIS GLORY
We naturally talk about the things that excite and amaze us. In the same way, when our hearts are gripped by God's goodness, we cannot help but share it with others. Jeremiah described God's word as a fire shut up in his bones that he could not contain (Jeremiah 20:9). The more we experience God's faithfulness, the stronger our desire becomes to tell others about Him. If we find little desire to speak of God's goodness, it may reveal that our attention has drifted elsewhere. A heart in awe of God cannot remain silent for long. As we behold His glory, our worship overflows into witness.
WORSHIP THROUGH SURRENDER
Awe also leads to humility. When we recognize God's greatness, we become aware of our dependence on Him. We acknowledge that every blessing, opportunity, and victory comes from His hand. True worship is not merely expressed through songs or words but through surrender. We worship God when we trust Him instead of relying on our own strength, when we give Him credit for His work in our lives, and when we choose faith over worry. A surrendered heart continually points back to God, giving Him the glory He deserves.
EXPECT HIS COMING
What we believe about the future shapes how we live today. Scripture teaches that Jesus will return, and His return should fill believers with hope and expectation. As we wait, we are called to live faithfully and remain ready. When our hearts are captivated by God's glory, we begin to long for Christ's return more than anything this world can offer. We look forward to the day when every promise will be fulfilled, every wrong will be made right, and we will be with Him forever.
A heart in awe of God proclaims His glory, surrenders to His will, and lives in anticipation of His return. As we grow in our understanding of who He is, may our lives become a continual act of worship, bringing honor and glory to Him alone.
