NXTGEN KIDS CHURCH SUMMER BREAK ON MARCH 16-MAY 16. NXTGEN RESUMES ON MAY 17 2026!
Sometimes we might think God is only with us when life seems good, but we oftentimes experience His power not in comfort but in our struggles. A fake Christian will never know the fullness of His power, but a true believer is empowered by the Lord to live faithfully and grow in godliness (2 Peter 1:3). It is amidst our temptations, challenges, and pain that His strength works within us to test and prove real faith.
PERSEVERE
Our perseverance shows God’s power at work within us. Our efforts may last for a moment, but only God can give us the strength to endure despite how great our problems may seem. When we fix our eyes on Jesus, we don’t concern ourselves with what is temporary, but our faith becomes anchored in the eternal reward of Christ (James 5:7). Like Jeremiah, who stayed faithful to God’s calling despite spending his life alienated and ignored, and Job, whose longsuffering led him to know God more deeply (Job 42:1-6), we are reminded that our struggles draw us closer to the Lord. When our hope is set on Christ’s return and His presence, we can patiently persevere through every trial and challenge.
PRAYER
How often do you pray? Oftentimes our prayers come with fixed ideas such as praying before a meal or only praying when life gets hard. But James reminds us that prayer should not be based on our conditions — it reflects our complete surrender and dependence to God. We are not meant to pray only when life becomes difficult but to seek God and trust in Him daily (James 4:13-15). If we refuse to depend on God and choose to live in sin, we hinder God from powerfully working within us. Just as Elijah experienced God’s power through earnest and devoted prayer, God shows His power to the righteous when we pray to Him in faith and sincerity (James 5:17-18).
PROCLAIM HIM
James ends his letter with a key truth: God’s most powerful act is giving us salvation through His Son, Jesus (James 5:19-20). Jesus Christ died on the cross and rose again to save us from our sins, giving us the hope of eternal life and the joy of being with Him forever. No number of blessings, miracles, or answered prayers on this Earth can ever compare to His greatest act of love (Acts 4:10-12). It’s only by His saving grace that our faith is made anew, therefore we must share the good news with others (Jude 1:22-23). As we walk in real faith, let us live and speak the gospel so that we may bless others to experience God’s saving power through Jesus.
