As Christians, we are no strangers to God’s generous nature. Though we celebrate His goodness, are we also allowing God to also use us to bless others? We often bury God’s calls with our excuses. We believe that because our trials are too big to overcome, we aren’t qualified to follow God just yet. If we want God to use us mightily, we shouldn’t focus on what we don’t have. Instead, we should trust that God will build and equip us when we put our faith in Him! Let’s learn how God uses His children mightily through the story of the five loaves and two fish.
TRUST
Sometimes, when we feel inadequate, we are unable to look beyond our current challenges. In the same way Philip questioned Jesus’ ability to feed 5,000 people with so little resources, we question if God can use our limited resources to make an impact in the lives of others. We ask, “What if I don’t know enough to start a DGroup?” or “What if I’m too young to disciple my family?” But remember: God is all-knowing, all-powerful and all-present. He works in our lives in supernatural ways. Even if we can’t see how God can use us at our lowest, we can trust that He empowers us in our weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). Let’s not look at our problems as hopeless, but as testimonies written by God for us to encourage others.
GIVE
In contrast to Philip’s doubt, Andrew trusted in Jesus when faced with the impossible. He searched and found a young boy who willingly gave his five loaves and two fish to Jesus. When we are told to give, it isn’t because God needs what we have. God wants us to nurture a willing heart that joyfully gives for His glory when the opportunity arises. When we make excuses and cling onto what little we have, we don’t just rob ourselves of the opportunity to witness Jesus’ glory and magnificent provision, we also rob others of the chance to know His greatness.
WATCH
When God grants us the privilege of experiencing His blessings, He doesn’t expect us to stay idle in our faith. Jesus’ multiplication of the five loaves and two fish is a reminder that He can work miracles with the little we have when we give to Him wholeheartedly for His glory! Don’t stay mere observers of His miracles. Just as the boy gave all that he had, we too can choose to give all that we have, whether little or much, for the glory of His Kingdom. God only asks us to begin by doing our best for Him. From there, we can trust that He will multiply the rest!
In what ways do you need to trust Jesus more?
What do you have to give Jesus?
What miracles await you (that you may watch Jesus work)?
