Read Daniel
God's Word provides hope and direction as we live in these challenging times. Through the Book of Daniel, we are reminded to be faithful because there is hope for tomorrow!
1. God’s Kingdom Will Last Forever
In Daniel 2, King Nebuchadnezzar had a dream of a statue with a head of gold, chest and arms of silver, belly and thighs of bronze, legs of iron, and feet of iron mixed with clay (vv. 31-33). This statue represented earthly kingdoms that rise and fall. Daniel interpreted the dream, revealing God’s sovereign hand over history.
In Daniel 5:25-28, we witness the fall of the Babylonian Empire, and in Daniel 8:7-8, the Medo-Persian and Greek empires crumble, divided among four generals after Alexander the Great. Despite the instability of human kingdoms, Daniel 2:44 declares that God’s kingdom will endure forever. It is a reminder to ask ourselves, “What or who are you trusting?” Human institutions fail, but God’s empire reigns eternally.
2. God’s People Will Be Tested
Life in the end times is marked by trials, but these tests refine our faith:
Moral Purity vs. Compromise: Daniel resolved not to defile himself (Daniel 1:8).
Devotion to God vs. Idols: Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refused to bow to Nebuchadnezzar’s golden image (Daniel 3:18).
Worshipping God vs. Pleasing Man: Daniel boldly prayed despite the king’s edict (Daniel 6:10).
James 1:2-4 reminds us to rejoice in trials, as they produce perseverance. Genuine faith is tested through fire (1 Peter 1:6-7), molding us to reflect God’s character (Romans 5:3-4, 2 Timothy 4:3-4).
3. God’s Son, Jesus, Will Return
The stone that crushed the statue in Nebuchadnezzar’s dream (Daniel 2:34-35) symbolizes Jesus, the cornerstone of salvation (Acts 4:11-12). Prophecies in Daniel 7:13, Isaiah 9:6-7, and Zechariah 14:1-9 affirm Jesus’ return to establish His eternal reign. Daniel 12:2-3 speaks of the resurrection and reward for the faithful, a promise sealed in Daniel 12:13: “You will rest, and then at the end of the days you will rise to receive your allotted inheritance.”
Living in the end times calls us to unwavering trust in God’s eternal kingdom, steadfast faith through trials, and anticipation of Christ’s glorious return. May we anchor our hope in the unshakable truth that God reigns forever!
