GO BEYOND:
ONE SOUL AT A TIME, ONE STEP AT A TIME
ONE SOUL AT A TIME, ONE STEP AT A TIME
Most of us are afraid to share the Gospel, but the apostle Paul reminds us in Romans 1:16 that we don’t need to be ashamed. It’s the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes. Often, we think we’re not ready or qualified, but Jesus promised in Acts 1:8 that the Holy Spirit will empower us to be HIs witnesses, starting where we are. That means you don’t need a title, a platform, or even the most eloquent words. All you need is a willing heart.
Start Where You’re At
Philip’s story begins not with preaching but with service. He was chosen to help distribute food to widows not because of experience, but because he was full of the Spirit (Acts 6:3-5). When persecution scattered the church, Philip ended up in Samaria, a place that many Jews avoided. But he didn’t let fear or discomfort stop him. He preached the Gospel, and great joy filled the city (Acts 8:4-8). Like Philip, we’re called to be faithful wherever God places us – whether that’s in our workplace, school, home, or even online.
Take Initiative
Philip didn’t wait for a perfect moment. When God told him to go to a desert road, he went even if it didn’t seem strategic (Acts 8:26-27). There he met an Ethiopian official reading Isaiah, who was having trouble understanding it. Philip took the initiative, started a conversation, and helped him see Jesus in the Scriptures (Acts 8:30-35). That moment of boldness led to the official’s belief and baptism (Acts 8:36-38). We often miss these kinds of moments because we’re hesitant or unsure. But taking initiative doesn’t mean having all the answers. It just means being present, starting a conversation, and caring enough to listen. God can use small acts of courage to open someone’s heart.
Expect God To Work
God had already been preparing the Ethiopian’s heart. Philip simply stepped into the moment. That’s how God works – He draws people through their questions, pain, and searching. Our role is to be available and ready. When you explain the Gospel, it can be as simple as sharing that God offers a relationship, that sin separates us, that Jesus is the solution, and that we’re invited to respond in faith. Don’t underestimate what God can do through your obedience. If God transformed your life, that in itself is a testimony worth sharing.
Press ON
Philip didn’t stop after one successful encounter. He kept going, preaching in every city until he reached Caesarea (Acts 8:40). Meanwhile, the Ethiopian went on his way rejoicing and likely carried the Gospel back to his homeland. One obedient step had a ripple effect, and in the same way, we’re called to press on even if we don’t immediately see the fruit. Your faithfulness matters because even if only one life is changed, it’s worth it. God can use your obedience to impact generations. So keep going. One soul at a time, one step at a time.
