LIMITLESS GOD:
UNLEASH GOD’S POWER!
UNLEASH GOD’S POWER!
For 41 years, we have witnessed firsthand God’s faithfulness to our church. But more than just being a celebration, each anniversary we celebrate is a reminder of one unshakeable truth: that we serve a God whose power can be unleashed in our lives through faith because He is limitless.
Throughout Scripture, we find numerous reminders of God’s infinite power, unchanging purposes, and supreme sovereignty. Jeremiah 32:17 declares that nothing is too difficult for God, while Jesus says in Mark 10:27 that all things are possible with God. Likewise, in Ephesians 3:20, we are reminded that God can do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think.
Yet we also learn in the Bible that unbelief can hinder God’s work in us. For example, Psalm 66:18 warns us that if we cling to sin, God will not hear us. In Matthew 13:58 and Mark 6:5-6, we learn that Jesus did not perform miracles because of people’s unbelief. Similarly, the Israelites missed out on God’s blessings because of disobedience (Psalm 81:13, 16).
If we want to experience God’s power, faith is the key. Though the enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy, Jesus came to give us an abundant life (John 10:10), and so we are called to walk by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7). Our faith must not rest on our feelings or circumstances, but on Jesus Christ. But what does it look like to walk by faith?
In the feeding of the 5,000 (Matthew 14:15-21, John 6:7-9), the disciples were discouraged because they saw only their lack: five loaves and two fish and a multitude to feed. But through their surrender and obedience, Jesus multiplied the loaves and fish until everyone was satisfied. Amazingly, there were even twelve baskets of food left over. Ultimately, we must remember that we, as God’s children, are channels of His power. When we obey and offer what little we have to Him, God can make the impossible possible.
Obedience, however, does not exempt us from trials. We see this in Matthew 14:22-24 when Jesus sends His disciples into a storm after the feeding of the 5,000. Amid the storm, Jesus appeared, walking on the water. Peter stepped out in faith, walking towards Him, but began to sink when his focus shifted to the turbulent wind (Matthew 14:27-30). Jesus saved him, saying, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?” The Christian life is impossible if we do not fix our eyes on Jesus daily (Hebrews 12:2). When we focus on our problems, we sink. When we fix our gaze on Jesus, His power sustains us.
When Jesus calmed the storm, the disciples worshipped Him, saying, “Truly You are the Son of God” (Matthew 14:33. Ultimately, if we want to unleash God’s power, we must trust and obey Jesus fully and be willing to step out of our comfort zones. Are you ready to step out in faith and obedience for the One who is limitless?
Have you ever “limited” God in your life before? How was life like back then?
What are you doing now that might be limiting what God can do in your life?
What does God want you to do now that is out of your comfort zone?
